Businesses Gear Up for Busy Weekend from Concertgoers

Garth Brooks sails his vessel to the Red River Valley and businesses in town are ramping up for his stay.

Companies are expecting visitors to be doing more than just stopping by for the concert.

If you’re out and about this weekend, you might see a lot more traffic.

Businesses are hoping to see a big impact from this big country star.

“I think downtown Fargo is going to be very busy this weekend with Garth Brooks in town,” says F-M Convention & Visitors Bureau Nicole Holden.

With big name concerts coming to the dome, it drives more traffic throughout the city, giving businesses a nice boost.

“This weekend was a pretty light weekend for us so it’s really nice to have Garth in town. Four shows in Fargo are big,” says Holden.

So big in fact, that most hotels are already full.

And by the looks of it, visitors from out of town are staying to explore the area.

“Because people come to Fargo they’re going to the concert but they make a weekend of it. That includes some dining, some shopping and seeing different things around Fargo,” says West Acre Mall property manager Chris Heaton.

F-M visitor’s center say Friday and Saturday will be the days where businesses will see the extra foot traffic.

This local pet shop says they’re ready for the busy weekend.

“We’ve all kind of just talk as it’s gone on and getting closer and everything. Getting ready for staff to be kind of bombarded but we’re ready for it,” says Pets R Inn assistant manager Kenzie Bueng.

Pets R Inn draws a crowd on a daily basis but they always expect more customers when a big show rolls into town.

Bueng says, “One of our biggest sellers is people walking in so we definitely have to get ready for that and try to make our customers happy too. So we’ll try to do what we can.”

F-M visitor’s center says this is Garth’s second largest stop per capita on his tour.
