Red River Bridge Closed After Hole is Found on Deck

A rural Red River Bridge connecting Polk and Traill Counties is closed after a hole was found on the deck.

The hole is about 2 feet by 3 feet and you can see right through it to the river below.

The Polk County Highway Engineer says the bridge was built in 1940 and carries 400 vehicles daily.

Preliminary results of a recent MnDOT inspection found some problems with the bridge but nothing to indicate the deck was in danger of crumbling.

Traffic is being detoured while repairs are made.
