The Red River Keepers hosted their last tree planting event of the season.
Over 80 volunteers got their hands dirty at Rivershore Drive in Moorhead planting trees along the Red River.
The organization works closely with the city targeting areas along the river that are in need of more trees.
It’s a move that helps maintain riverbank stability and improves water quality.
“It’s so fun to see all the different kinds of people that are coming out, working together, meeting each other, and actually helping plant trees. That they can come back and see in 20 years that they’ve grown, and they can take pride in helping the riparian area” said Christine Laney, Red River Keeepers Executive Director.
The organization has planted more than 3,500 trees along the Red River this season.
