Sen. Hoeven Working to Defund EPA Waters of the U.S.
It’s been a challenging year for North Dakota farmers, and Senator Hoeven says he plans to help them out.
He has been pushing to repeal the EPA waters of the U.S. rule.
Hoeven voted to defund the regulation last year, which he says is the number one regulatory threat for farmers and ranchers.
He is pushing to do that again this year after it expires but the current administration could stand in his way.
“Right away the president issued a veto threat so we are battling that and it’s going to be a challenge to get it done with this administration but I am hopeful with a new administration we can get it done,” says Republican Senator, John Hoeven.
Hoeven had an amendment on the floor just 10 days ago to defund the bill.
He received 57 votes, just three votes short of passage.
