Man Shot And Killed By Douglas County Deputy Identified

27-year-old Tyler Schmidtbauer died of multiple gunshot wounds on Tuesday morning

RAMSEY, MN — A Midwest Medical Examiner’s report shows that 27-year-old Tyler Schmidtbauer died of multiple gunshot wounds on Tuesday morning.

Schmidtbauer was shot during a confrontation with Douglas County Sheriff’s deputies in Miltona.

They had responded to a domestic disturbance call about 5:15 a.m. and at one point a deputy discharged his weapon.

The deputies were not injured but were placed on standard administrative leave.

Minnesota BCA is investigating.
