Food, arts and entertainment has officially taken over Broadway in downtown Fargo.

The 40th annual downtown street fair kicked off its first day.

KVRR’s Brittany Ford has what you can expect to see at this year’s event.

Street Fairgoers have the chance to shop from over 250 artists and vendors along with 38 different food stands.

One Fargo-Moorhead native says attending the first day of Street Fair is a tradition.

“Last year I brought a sign that said welcome to my camper and now this year I bought too little signs that I’m going to add on it every year,” says Kim Tolle.

One vendor who’s catching a lot of attention is the Thomas Iron Works tent.

Owner Chris Thomas welds scrap mental into fun outdoor decor.

He uses farm scrap metal for inspiration.

Things like wrenches, washers, and shovel handles.

“Shovel hands I still don’t remember what made me put them together like that, and it’s been real successful. Most things I don’t know sometimes you got turn and look at things differently,” says Thomas.

“And if you’re headed to the Street Fair for the food. There are three new food options you’ll want to check out.”

Skips Gourmet Rub, based out of Grand Forks, offers smoked pulled pork, BBQ, salads and nachos.

You can grab a tasty turkey croissant sandwich at Gobblers Concession.

But if you’re looking for some food with home cooking flavor, you’ll want to check out Verdis Italian Market.

“There’s a lot of buzz about the fried Ravioli the cheese ravioli. We have meatballs as well, but so far people been keep going after the fried ravioli. That’s a signature here,” says Anthony Verdis.

Organizers say this year’s Street Fair is one of the largest they have ever hosted with vendor spaces completely sold out.
