Minnesota Reviews 14,000 DNA Related Crimes: No One Exonerated
Officials say a review of 14,000 criminal cases in Minnesota in the 1980s and `90s found DNA technology could not exonerate any convicted felons.
Authorities determined that 33 cases could potentially provide evidence about a defendant’s guilt if new DNA testing was done.
Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman says that of those cases, 12 defendants declined testing, 11 tests were inconclusive, eight confirmed the original conviction and two are still outstanding.
