Health Care Felony Assault Bill in North Dakota

It could soon be a felony to assault health care workers in North Dakota.

Lawmakers are looking at such a bill at the legislative session.

It’s already a felony under state law to assault law enforcement, firefighters and others.

Doctors, nurses and other medical officials told the Senate Judiciary Committee that health care workers should be included under the law.

The executive director of the North Dakota Medical Association says health care workers are seeing more assaults in the workplace.
