Community Celebrates Women's Empowerment

Thousands of people around the world will be honoring International Women’s Day on Sunday, but women in the area started the celebration on Saturday.

The community started celebrating the day by browsing local vendor’s booths, listening to a men and women’s panel, and participating in an open microphone session.

International Women’s Day hopes to recognize the advancement of women working to create a world of equal rights for all and justice.

Women’s Impact members say celebrating the empowerment of women is more than a local festivity.

“We felt the need to truly create and connect with the world today it’s not just us here in Fargo/ Moorhead. This week communities all over the world are coming together to celebrate International Women’s Day,” says Founder and President of Women’s Impact Cris Linnares.

This is the second annual event.
