Concordia College Showcases Echo Band
Concordia College’s Music Department opened its doors to the public, presenting its student conducted, Echo Band.
It may not sound like it, but most of these students aren’t playing their primary instrument.
Instead many take the opportunity to practice their second or even third instrument.
While the band has only been rehearsing since September, three student conductors have been preparing their music since mid-summer.
“Everyone’s trying really hard and engaging in the ensembles. They’re helping us as student conductors as we’re learning the rehearsal process. And it’s just fun to make music without a lot of pressure,” says Concordia senior, Emily Bengtson.
Student conductors were chosen through an interview process.
The rest of the band is non-audition and meets once a week on Sunday nights.
The band is comprised of mostly music education majors.
