Pet Connection: Meet Rolie and Polie
FARGO — They’re the dogs that have a lot of people asking themselves, “What the fluff?”
Chow chows are a breed not many people know a whole lot about, and that’s a shame, because with their thick coats built to withstand harsh winters in China, they’re a great fit for our extreme cold climate here in the upper Midwest.
These two little girl puppies were discovered abandoned in a parking garage with their sister, who’s already been adopted.
While a lot of people fall in love with chows because of their teddy-bearish appearance, there’s a lot more to them than just beauty.
Chows are known for their aloof, catlike personalities, and they don’t often warm up to strangers, so they need a lot of consistent socialization.
Like a lot of the northern breeds, they can be extremely strong-willed, so if you’re not an experienced dog owner, you will likely have a lot of trouble with a chow.
They are incredibly loyal to their person and their family, and that makes them a highly reliable and devoted members of the household, as well as an excellent guard dog.
Rolie and Polie are only about five months old, so be aware that while they’re little teddy bears now, they are likely to get a lot bigger — large males can get up to 65 or 70 pounds.
So if you think you can roll with all the grooming and training, and you want an incredibly loving and faithful lifetime companion, who will choose you over anyone else — check out the puppies’ adoption information, here:
