Xcel Energy Trying to Make Up for Power Outages

Xcel is working to prevent the numerous power outages that have affected Fargo in recent weeks.

Xcel’s North Dakota manager Mark Nisbet told the Public Service Commission that the company is stepping up efforts to replace power lines and trim trees.

Xcel has an agreement with regulators that requires the utility to credit customers who have four or more outages of more than five minutes.

The company has given nearly $400,000 in credits to about 7,800 customers since the agreement was done in 2012.
