Bobcat or Cougar? Case of Mistaken Identity

Minnesota DNR officials say a 16-year-old hunter’s report of two cougars fighting was a case of a mistaken identity.

They now believe the two animals discovered November 7th in Itasca County weren’t cougars, but bobcats.

They say they were cautious about the report from the beginning because spotting two cougars together would’ve been extremely rare in Minnesota.

They say a cougar would’ve loomed much larger in the tree than what was shown in the photo.
