NDSU Bison Gets Rematch with SDSU this Weekend

The Bison Football team is getting ready for another familiar opponent on Saturday.

For the third straight playoffs, NDSU will take on a team for the second time in a season.

Two years ago, it was South Dakota State.

Last year it was Montana and Northern Iowa.

And this year, it’s South Dakota State again, as the Bison must beat a team they’ve already played in order to advance in the FCS Playoffs.

This does mark the second straight year that a team the Herd is playing again is a team that’s already beaten them.

Last year, Montana beat the Bison on the final play in the first game of the year, only to have their season end when they came to the Fargodome.

This year, the Jackrabbits beat the Bison on the final play when they met in October.

But Bison Coach Chris Klieman says that while the team is the same, the game is not.

“There’s a lot of different adjustments and wrinkles that both teams put in,” said Coach. “You can take from that the personnel side of things of who you’re playing against. But you have to be able to adjust in the playoffs, no matter what.”

Now, it’s not crazy to assume that first loss will be a big motivator for the Bison as they practice this week.

But Coach Klieman doesn’t necessarily agree with that.

We have more on his strategy.
