Family Wellness, Ed Clapp Elementary Team Up for Healthy Cooking
Fourth and Fifth Graders at Ed Clapp Elementary School in Fargo Learn How to Cook Healthy
Family Wellness and Ed Clapp Elementary school are teaming up to give students a lesson in healthy cooking.
Fourth and fifth graders at the school are taking healthy cooking lessons as part of the “My Plate Program”.
It’s a four day program with each day focusing on a new food group and cooking techniques.
For today’s lesson, students are focusing on protein by making ham and corn salad with buttermilk ranch dressing.
“It’s absolutely founded that kids who help in making a certain meal and knowing about the nutrition factors in it, there’s more of a desire for them to introduce that to themselves and eat that way,” said Nicolle Aukland, a Healthy Cooking Coordinator at Family Wellness.
This is the first year the elementary school in Fargo is participating in this program.
