FARGO, N.D. — NDSU President Dean Bresciani is staying put.

He released a statement that stated he had withdrawn from the running for president of Ohio University.

North Dakota University System Chancellor Hagerott said he appreciates that Bresciani has decided to stay with NDSU and looks forward to working together.

Chair of the Board of Higher Education, Kathleen Neset, said she was thrilled when she heard the news.

“This will allow all of us to continue to work together as a system with all eleven campuses. You know without the, I’ll call it, without the distraction of having to go through a presidential search,” said Neset.

At the end of June, Bresciani’s contract extension was delayed due to concerns about his performance.

The board later decided to extend his contract until June 2018.
