Prayer Services, Scam Fundraising and Mayor Mahoney’s Response on Savanna Greywind

FARGO, ND — There are three public remembrances that are planned to remember the short life of Savanna Greywind.

A prayer service will be held tonight at 8:30 at Mickelson Field in north Fargo.

We will have a live report at 9.

Members of Spirit Lake will hold a prayer vigil at 8 at Turtle Mountain High School’s football field in Belcourt.

A public vigil will be held Wednesday at 8 p.m. in Bismarck at the North Dakota State Capitol.

Family and friends are also asking people to light a red light for eight nights, the number of nights Savanna was missing.

Scammers are trying to take advantage of the tragedy by setting up bogus fundraising accounts.

The only official fund right now is at U.S. Bank.

There is an account at the bank under the name of Savanna Greywind and Ashton Matheny’s baby, Haisley Jo.

No other fundraising sources have been approved by the family.

Fargo Mayor Mahoney says his thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Savanna.

In a statement, the mayor said:

“Please remember that instances like this do not define Fargo; Fargo is instead defined by our people’s incredible spirit of resilience and their collective acts of support exhibited in the aftermath of difficult circumstances.”
