Experiments with KVRR Meteorologist Scott Sincoff: Confetti Explosion

Fun and Easy Science Experiment

This week, Meteorologist Scott Sincoff created a confetti explosion with his leftover decorations from New Year’s Eve.

What you need to do the experiment:

  • Confetti
  • Water
  • Baking Soda
  • Vinegar
  • Clear Party Cup
  • Hollow Bowl or Container

How to do the experiment:

Take about 2 cups of baking soda and combine it with a good handful of confetti and mix it together in a mixing bowl. Slowly add water and combine everything to make a gooey and messy dough. Set up the party cup inside a hollow bowl or container. Scoop some of the dough – about a half cup’s worth – into the party cup and then add a splash of vinegar and watch! The confetti dough combined with the vinegar make a reaction fit to welcome 2018 with a bang!
