The Biz: KFC’s New Gravy Cocktails, McDonald’s Going Green, More Money in Your Pocket and the DOW Hits 26,000

These aren't just any kind of cocktail

NATIONAL — KFC may be the home of finger lickin’ good chicken but now they’re hoping to serve you up some lip-smackin’ cocktails.

The fast-food company is launching a new cocktail menu and while the drinks won’t be sold in stores, the recipes will be available for you to make on your own.

These aren’t just any kind of cocktail.

The main ingredient is gravy.

The Gravy Mary, Finger-Lickin’ Sour and the Southern Twist recipes are not for the faint of taste but give them a try and tell us what you think!

THE GRAVY MARY

Ingredients:

  • 50ml Vodka
  • 20ml KFC Gravy
  • Spice Pack: 20ml Worcester Sauce, 3 Drops Tobasco, 3 Grinds White Pepper, Pinch of Celery Salt, Pinch of Paprika, 1/2 t of Horseradish Cream
  • 15ml Fresh Lemon Juice
  • 90 ml Tomato Juice
  • Garnish: Celery, Popcorn Chicken

Mix spice pack in a tall glass and cover firmly and shake.  Add vodka, lemon juice, tomato juice and shake-shake shake!  Add in KFC Gravy, stir together and pour into a fresh highball glass.  Finish with celery and a skewer of KFC popcorn chicken.  If you want the Gravy Mary without the party, use 140ml of tomato juice as a vodka substitute.

FINGER-LICKEN’ SOUR

Ingredients:

  • 100ml KFC Gravy
  • 400ml Mezcal
  • 15ml Cherry Liqueur
  • 25ml Fresh Lemon Juice
  • 10ml Orange Marmalade
  • Pinch of Salt
  • Pinch of Pepper
  • One Egg White
  • Garnish: Thyme Sprig

Pour the mezcal and KFC gravy into a tall glass, cover firmly and shake it like you’ve never shook it before.  Put the glass in the freezer and leave it there for about three hours.  Once it’s frozen, pour the gravy-infused mezcal through a strainer and into a fresh glass.  Squeeze the lemon into the glass, add marmalade, salt, pepper, egg white and shake, shake shake!  Pour it all into a martini glass and sprinkle with thyme.

SOUTHERN TWIST

Ingredients:

  • 50ml Kentucky Bourbon
  • 60ml Hot KFC Gravy
  • 2 Grinds Black Pepper
  • 2t Granulated Brown Sugar
  • 4t Dried Parsley
  • Garnish: Parsley, Brown Sugar Rim
  • 1/2 a Lemon

Add ice cubes to your Kentucky Bourbon.  Add your KFC Gravy and mix it up.  Chop the parsley and mix it with the brown sugar in a bowl.  Take your half lemon and coat the rim of the glass.  Dip the rim of the glass into the chopped parsley and brown sugar mix.

MCDONALD’S GOES GREEN

McDonald’s is officially going green.

The fast-food chain is announcing they will be using renewable and recyclable materials in all of its packaging by 2025.

Every restaurant will also be installing recycling bins and the company is saying they will get rid of all foam used in its packaging by the end of this year.

Company officials say they are making the changes in response to customer demands.

MORE MONEY IN YOUR PAYCHECK? NOT SO FAST

The U.S Treasury Department says about 90 percent of workers across the country will see a hike in their take-home pay under the new tax law, but those changes might not reflect 2018 tax bills completely.

Tax experts say this hike could be a result of the tax plan being put into effect too quickly which means it could result in a smaller refund next tax season or possibly, a higher bill.

While the IRS did update their calculation tables, the W4 is not ready for the 2018 tax year.

DOW JONES HITS 26,000

Experts say the Republican tax plan is also partially responsible for the milestones being made on Wall Street.

The DOW Jones has hit and surpassed the 26-thousand mark for the first time and it’s just seven trading days since it hit 25-thousand.

Experts say several other factors are also responsible for the rally, including strong economic growth and record corporate profits.

The DOW has jumped nearly 42 percent since President Trump was elected in 2016.
