Update: Ada fire ruled accidental, cause unknown
ADA, Minn. (KFGO) – One home was destroyed and another heavily damaged by fire in Ada Sunday.
Shortly after 11:30 a.m., Ada firefighters were called to the 505 Clover Lane. A passerby had spotted the flames and alerted the residents.
Once on scene, crews called for mutual aid from the fire departments in Borup, Twin Valley, Halstad and Hendrum. Crews remained on scene for several hours.
Ada Fire Chief Steve Petry says the fire started in the garage of the one home and was fueled by gas cans in the garage. Heat from the fire broke a window in the neigboring home, starting it on fire.
No one was injured.
A deputy state fire marshal ruled the fire as accidental but the cause could not be determined.
A damage estimate was not available.
A witness at the scene tells KFGO News that Ada’s mayor was present and on the phone making arrangements through Red Cross and Salvation Army for rooms at the Norman County Motel for the displaced residents of the two households.
