Finding Your Tune at NDSU: Campus Begins Week of Concerts

It will go through Wednesday with jazz, a symphony orchestra and the band

FARGO, N.D. — Music lovers can enjoy a week full of concerts at NDSU.

The Wind Symphony performed first and the rest of the week will be followed by the NDSU band, jazz band and symphony orchestra through Wednesday. Tickets are $5 for adults, $2 for students and free for NDSU students. Students say one of the best parts about being in the program is getting to perform with classmates who take music to a whole new level.

“That’s what I love about it. Every student in this group wants to be here, loves music, wants to get better. That’s kind of the fun thing is I don’t have to practice rhythms and notes and all the little things. It’s lets practice how do we shape a tune, how do we make this phrase really sound like what the composer’s intent was,” said Matthew Winarski, a NDSU graduate student in the music program.

In just a week and a half, students in the music program will be going on tour at high schools throughout Minneapolis.
