Sheriff’s Office Wants to Talk With Groundhog About Statements Made Feb. 2nd

CROOKSTON, Minn. – The Polk County Sheriff’s Office publicly calls out a popular weather figure.

On its Facebook page, the sheriff’s office says it would like to speak with Punxsutawney Phil regarding statements he made on February second.

The groundhog didn’t see his shadow meaning he predicted six more weeks of Winter.

It turns out, he’s not a quality predictor of weather.

In the past decade, Phil predicted a longer winter seven times and an early spring three times.

NOAA says he was right only 40 percent of the time showing what it calls “no predictive skill.”
