Spring Art Gala: Prom 1997
Reclaim your youth, if not your eyebrows.
It’s been the top ticket in town for spring celebrations for a quarter-century now in the metro’s art scene.
And this year, the Spring Art Gala is back in style.
90’s style.
Break out the halter tops and slip dresses, pluck your eyebrows to a fine line and get ready to party at Spring Art Gala Prom: 1997.
Organizers are inviting us to roll back the calendar to when the Spice Girls were still together, Titanic was the top-grossing movie, and Princess Diana was still among us all.
This year’s gala will feature pieces from more than 60 artists, as well as live music and dancing, desserts from Nichole’s fine pastry, catering, and what they believe may be the region’s biggest wine tasting event.
The theme was a natural for the gala’s silver anniversary, said gala co-chair Susan Hozak.
Ever since it’s inception, she said, it’s been kind of like the region’s prom for adults.
Hozak joined the Morning Show live to talk with Emily Welker about why the gala is such a critical part of the museum’s annual fundraising efforts, and how big the crowd could get this year.
