Motor Coach Industries To Remain In Operation in Pembina

PEMBINA, N.D. (KVRR) — Winnipeg-based bus manufacturer NFI Group changes course and decides to keep its bus assembly plant in Pembina in operation.
Back in May, the company had announced plans to close the Motor Coach Industries plant by June 2025 as part of a larger cost-cutting plan.
But the company informed Gov. Doug Burgum this week that due to strong product demand, including for electric motor coaches, the company sees an opportunity to continue operations in Pembina.
Burgum says they are in contact with the company about opportunities for workforce training and other support to help them meet demand.
The plant has been in Pembina since 1963.
