LIVE: Helping Homeless Youth

Outreach worker Josh Bell speaks from experience.

FARGO — A youth homeless activist is sharing his story of life on the street to help other kids struggling in the metro this morning.

Josh Bell works for Youthworks now, helping kids who are in the position he was once in.

Bell says he was kicked out of the house when he was just 17.

He says the experience of homelessness was much harder than most people would believe, particularly for a teenager.

Bell says there’s a misconception in our community that teens who are homeless are so by choice.

Bell works as an outreach coordinator getting homeless kids food, shelter, educational resources, toiletries, and clothes.

Bell and United Way of Cass-Clay’s Karla Isley joined Emily on the Morning Show to talk about why teens can be hard to reach even when they’re most in need, and why Bell’s work in the community is so critical in giving teens living on the street a chance at a better future.
