Food For Thought

Still bitter over a breakup this Valentine's Day? Let a cockroach handle it.... and help out a local animal rescue too.

BOTTINEAU, N.D. — Are you choked up over an ex this Valentine’s Day?

Bitter over a breakup?

Lump left in your throat over love gone wrong?

You might find this easier to swallow: a cockroach.

At least, the exotic animals at Bottineau, North Dakota-based Kritter Krazy Reptile and Exotic Rescue do.

For a small donation, they can heal your heartbreak…. or at the very least patch it up with some classic passive aggression.

Your twenty dollars buys you a delicious live cockroach, named in honor of whomever is making your Valentine’s Day miserable.

Then, rescue workers will record video of one of their rescue pets devouring the namesake cockroach as a delicious treat for you to savor.

Rescue founder Tasha Gorentz says you don’t just have to name your cockroach for romantic relationships that went sour.

You can pick the name of your in-laws, your ex-boss, or anyone who’s bugged the heck out of you.

And your donation goes to help support the work done by Kritter Krazy, one of the region’s only shelters specializing in reptiles, rabbits, and other exotic pets.

Gorentz sent a sample video to the Morning Show and shows us how your heartbreak can help to heal the hurt left for pets who are left homeless.
