LIVE: Putting the Fun in Fundraiser
It's double the fun and double the vets to DC this time around.
MOORHEAD — The Honor Flight of North Dakota/Minnesota is putting the fun in fundraiser this weekend.
That’s because it’s their annual Summerblast — one of the organizations’ biggest fundraising efforts to raise money to send the region’s veterans to Washington D.C. for free.
Interest from local vets is so high that for the first time this fall, they’re chartering two planes to double the number of vets and volunteers they can bring.
Of course, that doubles the cost to more than a half million dollars they need to raise.
This weekend’s celebration kicks off Friday night, July 26th, at the American Legion in Moorhead.
They have a silent auction, two days of live local musical acts, and the Moving Vietnam Wall Memorial.
This year for the first time they’re offering mechanical bull rides, and a full breakfast at the Legion.
Organizer Lori Ishaug joined the Morning Show for a live interview about the push to double the number of vets they can send to D.C. to see the monuments in their honor.
