LIVE: Getting a Mammogram
FARGO — It’s a simple test at the doctor’s office that can ultimately save your life.
But the CDC reports that last year, a startling number of women who need them — one in four in the U.S. — skipped their preventive mammograms.
The reasons vary.
Some people report fear of the unknown.
Others worry the test is uncomfortable.
So to dispel some of that fear and worry, Emily Welker decided to take viewers with her into the mammography room to see for themselves what it’s like.
She shared that story on the Morning Show and with it welcomed a local representative of the American Cancer Society in our region to join the show live and accept a donation from KVRR and the Hector Foundation to continue the fight against cancer.
Watch the full-length video and find out why she’s doing this and why doctors are now recommending women get assessed for breast cancer risk younger than ever before.
