LIVE: Pet Connection: Meet Gareth

FARGO — If you’re in the market for a guy who’s good-looking, gentle, great with kids and game for almost anything, you’ve got to check out Gareth.

The husky-shepherd cross comes to Pet Connection with the help of 4 Luv of Dog volunteer Ashley Morken, who confesses she’s got a great connection with the 2-ish year old dog.

Gareth is one of those dogs who likes to check back with you with a lot of eye contact when he’s out and about, which is a great sign for his focus and trainability.

He also has a cute behavior where he lifts a paw when he does his “sit” command, and asks for treats with a paw too.

Gareth is very food-motivated, so that’s part of what makes him easy to train, in addition to the striking intelligence of both the husky and the German Shepherd breeds.

Not only that, he’s a super-cuddly guy who loves to give hugs and leans on people he likes.

His foster parent says he’s not just good with adults and other dogs, but also is incredibly gentle and calm with the family’s special-needs child.
