LIVE: The Power to Change
FARGO — Most of us know what we need to eat to stay healthy. But we don’t always know why.
Now, a new book out by a Fargo-born physician shows us that some foods can change and rev up the way your cells burn through calories, letting you lose weight faster.
Dr. Neal Barnard is in Fargo talking about his research into weight loss and food.
He tested people to find out how certain foods like blueberries, cinnamon, and other plant foods affected their metabolism.
His research shows that the test subjects showed higher resting metabolic rates after eating them.
One test group, placed on an entirely plant-based, vegan diet, showed their cells supercharged to burn energy 15 percent faster, Dr. Barnard says.
He’s hosting an event, or as he calls it, a “Power Foods Party” at the Fargo Theatre Wednesday that’s free and open to the public to show people recipes he’s developed that showcase these “power foods.”
It’s a way to get people to feel excited to have foods like French toast, chili, pesto and other treats that restrictive diets often deny people who want to lose weight.
Dr. Barnard joined the Morning Show for live interviews about how he ran his tests to determine how people’s bodies were responding to the “power foods,” how you can get started, and who else will be at the Fargo Theatre to teach you about getting healthy, losing body fat, and getting moving.
