National Guard To Provide Temporary Shelter After Apartment Building Fire in Wadena, MN

ST. PAUL (KVRR) — Gov. Tim Walz has issued an executive order to authorize the National Guard to provide temporary shelter in Wadena after an apartment building fire.
One person died in the fire that started Sunday night around 10:45 at 123 Bryant Avenue Southeast.
Firefighters spent the night battling the fire in the frigid weather.
They arrived to find heavy flames coming from an upstairs window.
The Executive Order 25-02 says nine people have been displaced.
Wadena County Sheriff’s Office requested the Minnesota National Guard assist by providing the local armory as a short-term emergency shelter for the displaced residents.
The order remains in effect until National Guard resources are no longer needed or until February 25, 2025.
The State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
