Nichole Rice Found Not Guilty In 2007 Murder of Anita Knutson

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (KVRR) — The Minot woman charged with killing her roommate back in 2007 in Minot has been found not guilty by a jury in Grand Forks County District Court.

The jury began deliberating Tuesday afternoon and continued this morning before their decision was announced.

Nichole Rice was arrested in 2022 for the stabbing death of Anita Knutson.

Authorities at the time said there were shifting statements from Rice and her parents as they pursued the case.

Then Minot Police Chief John Klug said Rice was always a person of interest, but until 2022 did not have enough evidence to arrest her.

The trial was moved to Grand Forks due to publicity surrounding the case in Minot.
