LIVE: Science for Dads and Daughters

FARGO — They’re women engineers in a historically female-underrepresented branch of the sciences.

So why, you might be asking, are they planning to have dads bring their daughters out for a day of science experiments?

Turns out, according to the members of the NDSU branch of the nationwide group Society of Women Engineers, it’s important to have someone you look up to help lead the way when it comes to getting girls into the engineering.

Sarah Nistler and Emma Dockter are part of the group putting on Dads and Daughters Do Science, coming up April 12th.

It’s part of their year-round series of events aimed at getting kids of all ages involved in STEM activities, and helping to encourage them to think about science — and maybe becoming the scientists of tomorrow.

And yes, they also have a fall event for moms and kids.

Nistler and Dockter joined the Morning Show to talk about the family members who helped them envision a career in engineering, and what the little girl in your life can learn from this and other upcoming events.
