Area veterans prepare for half-century mark since Vietnam War
FARGO (KVRR) – It’s been fifty years since the Vietnam War and its profound effects on vets and families in the region are still reverberating.
And you’re invited to help them commemorate its end this Saturday.
It’s the kickoff of Vietnam Memorial Week at the Fargo Air Museum.
They’ve got events scheduled daily, including a missing man ceremony, veteran resources, and aircrafts and military vehicles from the era on display.
Rex Selnes is the keynote speaker and says public sentiment is very different ow than what he experienced when returning home.
He says community support is critical to having a healthy veteran population.
He and Ed Ahonen, both of the Vietnam Vets of America, joined the Morning Show to talk about what’s changed since they were in Vietnam and what you can learn if you come to next week’s programs.
