LIVE: Scoring Points for Mental Health
FARGO — The Blue Cross Blue Shield Caring Foundation is scoring some points for mental health with the help of some of our local sports teams.
They did it with this winter’s “Shut out the Stigma” campaign on hockey rinks around the region.
Each goal from local hockey teams, including the Fargo Force — earned a donation from the foundation to the nonprofit Firstlink.
Foundation leaders say it raised more than $26,000 for Firstlink’s mental health and suicide call services.
That’s the equivalent of more than 750 crisis calls.
The campaign now moves into its summer phase, partnering with local baseball teams including the F-M Redhawks.
The Foundation’s Amber Blomberg joined the Morning Show to talk about Firstlink’s lifesaving role in the region, and about how you can help erase the stigma of seeking mental health help.
