LIVE: Pet Connection: Meet Meeka

FARGO — In her nine years, Meeka the pit bull has survived enough challenges for a whole kennel full of dogs.
She comes to us from Smiley’s Rescues in rural Polk County, Minnesota.
Sid Williams, the rescue founder, was kind enough to drive her all the way in to Fargo to share her story.
Meeka came in to the rescue when her owner, who was unhoused, had to surrender her, and she’d had a hard time getting enough food for the two of them.
So when she came in, she was bald.
Some hair loss is still visible in her tail and slightly in her hindquarters, but it’s only been six months, and already, with proper nutrition, most of her fur has grown back and she’s healed beautifully
Meeka is a senior in terms of her chronological age, but Williams says says she acts like she’s two, with energy and affection to burn.
She likes to give kisses and offers her paw, and does the classic big-dog lean.
Meeka isn’t a good fit for cats and other small animals, and she’s not appropriate for tiny children since she knocks them over.
But if you have a bigger dog or bigger kids, she’s just right.
If you, or someone you know, wants to give Meeka the furever home and happy future she’s more than earned in her long, tough life, check out her profile, here:
