Structure Fire in Grand Forks
The damage was extensive in the unit in which the fire began, but nobody was physically harmed in the blaze.

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – At approximately 1:43 AM on Saturday, June 7th, the Grand Forks Fire Department responded to 812 4th Ave S for a report of smoke and fire alarms sounding in a multi-family residence.
Fire crews witnessed heavy smoke coming from the second and third floors of the building. They were able to quickly extinguish the source of the fire. There was significant fire damage to the unit of origin, with moderate smoke and heat damage contained to the second-floor hallway.
Three occupants of the building were evaluated by Altru, with one being treated and released on scene – so no permanent physical harm appears to have occurred. There were also no injuries to the first responders.
The occupant of the fire unit has been displaced and is being assisted by the American Red Cross and the Grand Forks Housing Authority.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. However, the Grand Forks Fire Department would like to remind everyone to keep candles
in a stable holder and at least 12 inches away from anything that burns
