LIVE: World Refugee Day

Worldrefugeeday

The metro’s refugee and New American aid organizations are bracing themselves for a world refugee day tomorrow filled with uncertainty.

That’s after the main organizers, the Immigrant Development Center, had its budget and staff cut by fifty percent.

Other area nonprofits are stepping in to help fill the gap.

They say it’s especially important to hold the annual celebration this year because so many of their members are worried about losing the right to work here in the United States and being sent back to their countries of origin.

Fowzia Adde of the Immigrant Development Center and Zoe Absey of the New American Consortium joined the Morning Show live to talk about the big celebration Friday and why it’s coming at such a critical time for the community.
