43 Years of Sweetening Survivors’ Lives: Cherries for Charity
FARGO — Summers in the region are pretty sweet for a lot of us.
And there’s a way going on tonight, and through next Tuesday, that you can show support for local survivors of sexual and domestic violence, with some of summer’s sweetest treats.
The annual “Cherries for Charity” is going on right now in all eight metro-area Hornbacher’s supermarkets through the 15th.
It’s in its 43rd year raising money for the women, children and men served the Rape and Abuse Crisis Center, and the YWCA of Cass Clay.
Twenty-five cents per pound of Washington Bing cherries sold goes back to the nonprofits.
It’s raised more than half a million dollars so far, and the spokespeople for both nonprofits say the need continues to grow in the region each year.
The YWCA’s Allison Perrie and the Rape and Abuse Crisis Center’s Jody Hudson joined the Morning Show to talk about the 350 individuals the YWCA serves on a daily basis, the work the Rape and Abuse Crisis Center does in being a victim-centered first stop for survivors, and how much your support means to the people they help.
