Downtown Street Fair Kicks Off Three-Day Run
The massive undertaking brings the feeling of the fairgrounds to Broadway.
FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – Even at 10 A.M. on a Thursday, the cordoned-off areas up and down Broadway were packed – with folks in the F-M area eager to enjoy the Downtown Street Fair on its 2025 opening.
The fair now enters its 49th year with even more excitement behind it than ever before.
“I think it’s the can’t miss event of the summer,” said Rocky Schneider, Executive Director of the Downtown Community Partnership. “We like coming back and seeing people again, socializing, seeing faces and friends you maybe haven’t seen in a while. It’s just a great way to get out and shop in a unique environment after a long winter. You don’t get this everyday in Downtown or anywhere in the region.”
One new thing attendees will notice this year are bollards, set up at basically every intersection surrounding the fair. They’re designed to thwart a potential vehicular attack, and organizers say their mere presence is reassuring.
“They are definitely a huge safety feature,” said Schneider. “We’re really happy that the police put the investment in to make everybody safer.”
Police presence also ensures a sense of security at the intersections that are left open to through traffic.
Overall, though, most people are just excited to get out and enjoy the weather, the hundreds upon hundreds of vendors, and the sense of community brought by this type of event.
The Fair runs from 10 A.M. to 9 P.M. on Thursday and Friday, then begins the same time on Sunday but wraps up at 5 P.M.
