City of Fargo and Moorhead duel it out for Battle of the Badges blood drive

Battle of the Badges Moorhead

MOORHEAD, Minn. (KVRR) — A two-day, cross-city “Battle of the Badges” blood donation challenge has been launched.

The battle run by the American Red Cross invites members of the community to donate blood and choose which department they want to support.

Today, they were set up at the Moorhead Public Library.

Fargo Police have won the title in recent years.

In addition to the classic police vs. fire showdown, Fargo and Moorhead will go head-to-head for the First Annual Battle of the Cities trophy, awarded to the community with the most blood donations.

“Regardless of what side of the river I’m on, this is a good cause, and happy to support it in any way I can. Regardless of what uniform I’m wearing,” said Chris Helmick, Moorhead Police Chief.

“We have a great working relationship with the police department, so it’s fun to have these little rivalry things. Win or lose, we’re here to support the American Red Cross,” said David Conrad, Chief of Operations, Moorhead Fire Department.

The blood drive continues on Thursday from noon to 6 p.m. at the American Red Cross in Fargo.
