Real Beauty: Child Literacy, Girls’ Wellness Platforms for Local Miss America Hopefuls

MOORHEAD, Minn. — Two young women from Moorhead are headed off on a journey to the Miss America pageant for 2026.

But it’s their platforms that are especially beautiful.

They are Miss Moorhead Natalie Berg, and Miss Moorhead Teen Jillian Bain.

Bain works with the local nonprofit Bio Girls that gets young girls physically active to support their confidence and mental health

As a dancer, she says, it’s been very rewarding to see how excited the girls are to get strong and healthy.

And Berg is on a mission to get more kids literate with her “Little Readers, Big Dreamers” program.

She says she struggled with a learning disability and as a child, did not like to read.

When she got to college, she says, she realized just how critical reading skills are to both education and to thriving in everyday life.

Berg and Bain joined the Morning Show to talk about why their platforms matter and why they’re hoping to take them all the way to the top of the Miss America scholarship competition.
