Spotlight on Solos: FM Symphony Orchestra’s “Masterworks 2”
FARGO — It’s about to get cold outside, but this weekend, there’s music to warm your heart.
And this time, it celebrates how the strength of each individual musician comes together to make a symphony sound beautiful.
The Fargo-Moorhead Symphony Orchestra is performing its “Masterworks 2: Music From Within” this weekend.
Symphonies are usually all about teamwork and the collaboration of all the artists to make a collective sound.
This series, though, highlights solos from the musicians, as well as pieces from the whole group.
Flute soloist Debora Harris is taking the stage to perform a piece by Mozart.
She also teaches at Concordia College and says it’s a chance to show her students what it’s like to work as a professional musician.
And Christopher Zimmerman, the symphony’s music director and conductor, is taking the stage not to conduct, but to perform a piano piece.
He and Harris joined the Morning Show to talk about what sets this performance apart from the rest of the series, and what it means to them to bring the music to life.
