Moorhead Mayor announces her run for MN House of Representatives

MOORHEAD, Minn. (KVRR) — Moorhead Mayor Shelly Carlson officially announces her DFL candidacy for Minnesota House of Representatives District 4A.

Carlson emphasizes her commitment to running is building a thriving, safe, and healthy community.

Current DFL State Rep. Heather Keeler is running for Congress.

Carlson says her priorities in office would be flood mitigation, state support for a new fire station, a psychiatric residential treatment facility, and other investments.

She also hopes people who lost money due to fraud cases in Minnesota can recover.

“I think just having those checks and balances in place and obviously there were checks and balances in place. And that’s why it was uncovered. And so I’m really happy about that and working together across the aisle with people who do want to make sure that things like that don’t happen in the future. I just think that’s the road we would go down,” said Carlson.

Carlson’s term as mayor is set to end on December 31, 2026.
