Ukrainian Refugees Leaving Region
FARGO — Activists for the region’s Ukrainian refugee community say more and more Ukrainians are being forced to leave because their work visas aren’t being renewed.
That’s after many of these refugees have spent the past three years working in the region, attending church here, and sending their children to public schools.
Activists say some of the area’s employers specifically sought out Ukrainian workers in order to address staffing gaps during our ongoing regional labor shortage.
They say they’re sorry to see them and their families go.
Activists Michael Southam and Marina Behm joined the Morning Show to talk about how difficult it’s been to say goodbye to the families and an expert panel this week by the League of Woman Voters that will address the challenges to this refugee population as well as others in and around the metro.
