Murphy’s Pub rings in the New Year with Acoustic Fest

MOORHEAD, Minn. (KVRR) — For twelve hours straight, eighteen local musicians came together to bring live performances to this local bar.

“Well, I’ve been in the acoustic circuit for a long time, and so I’ve known a lot of different people that play in that acoustic circuit as well. Just kind of put it together, and here we are,” said Wayne McArthur, Musician.

Wayne McArthur is a local musician who has played music since he was sixteen years old. Together with other local musicians, McArthur started the Acoustic Fest at Murphy’s Pub in Moorhead. Bringing various kinds of sounds of country, pop, rock, and Spanish.

“I just like to sing music that means something to me because I think that really moves people. And if it means something to me, it’ll move someone else. I love having the opportunity. I’m very grateful to be able to use multiple languages to do that,” said Javier Quiroz, Musician.

Javier Quiroz has been playing live performances for nearly two years. Performing with a mix of English and Spanish songs. Earlier this year, he was also invited to play at the country’s largest country festival, WEFest.

“I just think over in my life, I have a lot of people that I looked up to, whether they were celebrities or people that I knew myself that did it. And it always looks so freeing. You see the rockstars, even just friends, singing or playing music, and I just wanted to have that freedom. To just play music and express myself. And put smiles on other people’s faces,” said Quiroz.
