“Mahj Curious” Class Comes to Metro

FARGO — It’s a game that first gained popularity in China in the 1800s, and now, it’s coming to the metro.

It’s a test of strategy skills, memory, and luck against the other players in a traditional game of mahjongg.

You’re invited to learn how to play in a new class called “Mahj Curious. ”

The instructor, Christine Welsand of “Mahj in the Midwest,” says the game is for all ages, and it’s great for family and friend groups.

Mahjongg, along with other analog games, is enjoying a resurgence recently as people reach out for personal connection and in-person entertainment beyond their smartphones and other device screens.

Welsand joined the Morning Show to explain the rudiments of the game and what made her first fall in love with it, and what it can do to sharpen your mental skills too.
