FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – With measles cases rising across the country – and in North Dakota – Fargo-Cass Public Health has distributed a memo to local students regarding the virus.

The document, signed by the school nurse manager for Fargo-Cass Public health, lists the most common symptoms of measles and information about how contagious it can be.

It mentions facts like that a person can contract measles just from being in a room someone else who had measles was in, up to two hours after the infected person has left.

The memo goes on to inform parents how to access their child’s immunization records, and warns that children without the vaccine, if they were exposed to the virus, should be held back from school and extracurricular activities until the North Dakota Department of Health and Human Services determines they can safely return.
