Matthew’s Voice Project has seen an increase in homeless students in need each year

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — A local non-profit helping students experiencing homelessness says they have been seeing an increase in students every year.
Matthew’s Voice Project currently serves about 1,000 students in the Fargo, West Fargo, Moorhead, and Horace school districts.
They provide them with funds to be able to pay for resources as well as things they are in need of.
The Center for Public Integrity says students experiencing homelessness in North Dakota are 31% less likely to graduate high school than their peers.
Matthew’s Voice Project says the increase in students has also increased the need for funding and resources.
“Being able to respond urgently is an incredible privilege that we’re able to accomplish. But I think with that comes additional challenges to just being able to continue meet the growing needs and the difference in complexity that these students are able to comfortably disclose,” said Calli Adamson Bakken, Interim Executive Director of Matthew’s Voice Project.
Matthews Voice Project will be hosting its 2nd Annual Impact without Excess Fundraiser on April 21st at Dakota Medical Foundation
