MINNEAPOLIS (KVRR/FOX9) — State Senator John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, have filed a civil lawsuit against the man accused of shooting them in their home.

Vance Boelter has pleaded not guilty to charges related to the June 2025 shooting, including murder, stalking and firearms offenses.

The shootings left House Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, dead.

John Hoffman was shot nine times, while his wife, Yvette, was shot eight times and both survived.

Boelter was captured after a 40-hour manhunt.

The lawsuit requests compensatory damages of $50,000 to cover medical expenses, lost income and lost future earning capacity.
